I am wanting to buy an adapter for my vehicle, the kind that will allow me to use my computer in my vehicle instead of using the battery. I have a 19" Sony Vaio laptop (very big and powerful) so I am wondering what to look for? Will I need a particular voltage, or wattage, or whatever? Obviously I am not up on this sort of thing, so all help is appreciated! I just don't want to ruin my computer, or overload the outlet port, or wharever... thank you!!
Here is one example of a site

I'm trying to get hold of a replacement adapter for my Belinea 0.book. I sent an enquiry email to a stockist of laptop batteries about one of their items and the reply said that to confirm that it was compatible I should:
" check the original carefully to obtain the input voltage, output voltage, the dimaension of the interface of it and the power."
How do I find out the dimension of the Interface? What is an interface dimension?
Thanks in advance.
If you don't want to waste time on laptop adapter or the working process just go and by a universal laptop adapter. kinds of plugs you can choose and several common volts for most laptops.

I'm traveling in a couple of days. I know some planes has power outlets that I can plug in. With the news rules and all, am I allowed to bring my laptop adapter with my carry-on or do I have to keep it in my luggage?
I use American Airlines which has the "cigarette-lighter" style plugs. I bought a power inverter, and use my laptop charger almost everytime I fly.
Be sure to check with your airline so you know what type of plug they have, and whether the aircraft you'll be flying on has power plugs installed.
The TSA requires that you remove your laptop from your carryon and put it in a bin at the security checkpoint, so be prepared for that. Below is a link to the TSA page on electronic equipment if you want further information.
Cheers.

I have a Dell laptop adapter that is overheating at the tip. I want to know how serious of a problem it is. Its already on the verge of sort recharging but heading back to the battery even if its plugged in. Its out and off now.
I've let it cool off a day before. Its a Dell....it just started to overheat.
I could believe the fan thing on the AC but when I have to actually twirl the cord to get a charge....I really think thats a different thing.
Actually this is a common problem with the lattitude series and to further agrivate the problem its not just the tip that is probably getting hot so a little fan may not be that much help to you, this problem I believe is caused by the notebooks increased power requirements when the battery begins to degrade become higher and the chinsy connectors used for many of dells models are not rated at the higher current draw, the problem is most apparent in the lattitude 1000 series but I hear there are several laptops that had this problem shippied from dell. Eventually the jacks solder joints weaken and break due to this, the only thing that worked for me was dissassembeling the laptop and installing a much hardier barrel jack but for most this shouldn't be attempted (a notebook is infinately more complicated to take apart then a desktop), in yrou case a new battery may be in order or better yet see if the battery is listed in dells recent battery recall list.
Microsoft wireless mouse 2000. Has desktop adapter. I want to know if it's possible to purchase a laptop adapter to use with the same mouse. Thank you!!
