Inspiron E1505 AC Adapter

I just purchased and i'm using it for the first time but its making a little hummimg noise and gets very warm my old one didnt do this im not going to fry my motherboard am i?

i purchased this one off of the internet it looks and has the same voltage as a dell on but it is not a dell one
i also noticed it is getting cooler now that my battery is amost fully charged but it is still pretty warm

It should be fine. But you can always buy a universal adapter that will probably be quieter and not heat up as much

Look at the Power supply for your laptop. It should say that it takes both 110 and 220 volt. The UK to US adapter should be all you need and can be found on the internet

My Dell Inspiron ac adapter broke and I was looking through the web for a replacement charger. Someone told me about not buying universal chargers for Dell, can someone elaborate on this?

If that's the case, where can I buy the charger then?

You are correct, you should only buy chargers that are only for Dell (not universal chargers) because only Dell's charger will be able to charge the battery. If you buy universal chargers, your laptop will most likely show an error message indicating that the charger cannot be recognized.

You can still look for chargers on ebay, google shopping or other places, just make sure that it's not universal charger.

I would personally recommend buying from Topmic.com because they offer lifetime warranty and free shipping for all their laptop chargers at a price much cheaper than Dell. They have pretty good quality laptop chargers, so I think it's a good deal.
