On the XPS 1530 it has A 2 GHz Core 2 Duo
I am buying for college with occasional gaming...

XPS 1530 with Nvidia 8600 GT video card is good for Gaming. Dont go for Inspiron 1720, apart from screen size it has nothing else to offer, whereas XPS 1530 is good. The XPS Support is also good when compared to Inspirons.
