Omnibook 6000 AC Adapter

I recently bought a new battery for my Omnibook 6000, because my old one would not hold a charge.

This new battery came 80% charged (I checked by the "on battery display")and I plugged it in and it began to charge, but stopped charging 3 minutes afterwords. It is always 3 minutes after I put that new battery in that the light changes from yellow (charging) to red. The battery is recognized and I can see the specs, but it just says 0%.

I was able to unplug the AC adapter and use the laptop for about 1 hour until the battery ran out of power, but all the time that I was running soley on the battery the light was red and it said that the battery was at 0%.

Now the battery appears not to be charging, except for that 3 minutes.

My first battery is the one that came with the laptop:
hp f2019b - 14.8V, 4000mAH

This new battery is:
FOR f2019a - 14.8V, 4400mAH

Please help.

Well looks like the new battery is a higher mah than the original that should give you more time. I would try using any battery utilities that your computer came with some may even be in the bios, try draining the battery till dead then recharge all night. if this does not work you have a bum battery.
